My Journey as an Esthetician & Why I Started Skinfatuation

Let’s rewind a bit. I’m Ashley, an Advanced Practice Esthetician and Certified Medical Assistant and Hydrafacial Master with over 14 years of hands-on experience in everything from spa facials to lasers, lymphatic drainage, to facial massage, to speed waxing to microneedling and chemical peels and many more.
Over the years, I’ve worked in:
Luxury spas that focused on pampering, but didn’t always deliver long-term results
Speed waxing clinics where the motto was “get ‘em in and get ‘em out”
Dermatology offices and laser clinics where efficiency was key—but the experience was lacking
Sales-heavy environments that pushed numbers more than people
Each of these places taught me something valuable, but none of them let me do what I truly love most:

A Little About Me
Outside the treatment room, I’m a Minnesota girl through and through. I’m a proud mom of two amazing daughters, wife, and dog mom to three chaotic but adorable pups. I’m obsessed with sushi, coffee, sparkling water (bonus points if it's citrus flavored), a good glass of red wine—or prosecco if we're celebrating (or, let’s be real, just making it through Monday).
I love paddle boarding, sunshine, and summer vibes—but I also love my SPF and try not to get too tan (a lifelong esthetician habit). Gotta love a good sun hat right???
I’ve spent years investing in continuing education because I believe there’s always more to learn—especially when it comes to treating real people with real skin concerns. I will never stop learning!!
From Cystic Acne to Skin Confidence
Like many of you, I haven’t always felt comfortable in my skin. I struggled with cystic acne, and I remember what it’s like to avoid mirrors or feel like you have to cover up before leaving the house. It’s exhausting.
That experience is part of why I do what I do. I know the emotional toll skin issues can take, and I want my clients to feel seen, heard, and supported—not sold to.
Why I Started Skinfatuation
After years of working under other people’s rules—using whatever product lines they carried or performing treatments I wasn’t always aligned with—I realized something was missing.
✨ I wanted freedom. Freedom to choose ethical, evidence-based treatments. Freedom to serve all skin tones, all genders, and all concerns. Freedom to lead with my mission—not someone else’s sales goal.
And I wanted to create the kind of space I wished existed earlier in my own skin journey. A space that was real, welcoming, and focused on connection—not conversion.
That’s why I created Skinfatuation Aesthetics.
