Nano Needling vs. Microneedling: Which Treatment is Right for You?
If you’ve been researching ways to rejuvenate your skin, you’ve likely come across two buzzworthy treatments: nano needling and microneedling. While they sound similar, these treatments are actually quite different in depth, technique, and results. At Skinfatuation Aesthetics, I offer both—and I often get asked, “Which one should I pick?” Let’s break it down.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling uses a device with fine, medical-grade needles that create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These tiny punctures kickstart your body’s natural healing response, boosting collagen and elastin production.
Benefits:
Improves fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity
Smooths acne scars and other scars
Minimizes enlarged pores
Improves overall tone and texture
Boosts absorption of advanced serums
Downtime: You may notice redness or sensitivity for 24–48 hours, similar to a mild sunburn. Makeup and active skincare products are usually paused for a short period.
Best For: Clients looking for real corrective results, such as smoothing scars, softening fine lines, or achieving firmer, more youthful skin. Clients wanting to achieve deeper results as fast as possible.
What is Nano Needling?
Nano needling is a gentler, non-invasive treatment that uses microscopic silicone, metal cones or “nano” tips—not actual needles—to exfoliate the surface of your skin and enhance serum infusion. The process feels more like a vibrating facial than a treatment with downtime.
Benefits:
Immediate glow and smoother texture
Plumps and hydrates the skin
Improves product absorption
Softens fine lines and evens tone with consistent treatments
Downtime: None! Your skin will look fresh and radiant right away. Some patients might notice some flushing or light redness for first few hours but generally fades very quickly.
Best For: Clients who want a “Glow & Go” treatment before an event, or those who prefer a no-downtime option for maintenance and prevention. For clients who want to see faster results than an average facial but aren’t ready to commit to Microneedling than nano needling is a good in between.

Which One Should You Choose?
If you want a gentle refresh before a big event → Go with Nano Needling.
If you want to start working more on correction but not quite ready for Microneedling or deeper peels. Adding in nano needling is a good middle ground.
If your goal is correcting deeper skin concerns like scarring, fine lines, or loss of firmness → Microneedling is the way to go.
Many of my clients actually use both in their skin journey: nano needling for monthly maintenance and radiance, and microneedling a few times a year for deeper correction and collagen remodeling.

💡 Estie Bestie Tip: Think of nano needling as your “spa glow facial” and microneedling as your “clinical skin reset.” Together, they can keep your skin both healthy and youthful—short term and long term.
